KISHINO MALIKA

(COMPOSER)

Born in Kyoto in 1971, Malika Kishino studied Law in Kyoto (diploma in 1994). She came to France in 1995, where she studied composition with Yoshihisa Taira (École Normale de Musique, Paris), Robert Pascal (Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse, Lyon) and Philippe Leroux (IRCAM, Paris). She has received grants from the major studios for electroacoustic music including GRAME (Lyon), SWR Experimentalstudio (Freiburg), ZKM Karlsruhe and the Groupe de recherches musicales (INA-GRM, Paris). Furthermore, she has received numerous prizes and awards including First Prize in the 6th concours of Groupe de Recherche Appliquée en Musique Electroacoustique (GRAME) and Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain in 2006, a fellowship to Academy Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart / Germany in 2008-09, a fellowship from the Landesregierung Nordrhein-Westfalen (2010-11), and an artist’s residency in Schreyahn /Germany in 2011. Malika Kishino’s music has been performed at a large number of international festivals in Europe and Japan including Présences, Festival de création Musicale of Radio France, the 23th Multiphonies of l´Ina GRM, the Musica Festival in Strasbourg, the Biennale Music en scéne in Lyon, the Ultima Festival in Oslo, the Ultraschall Festival in Berlin, the Summer Festival in Stuttgart, the Rai Nuova Musica, Achtbrücken Festival in Cologne, the Essen Now Festival and many more. Her works have been performed by, among others, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Bochumer Symphoniker, Chorwerk Ruhr, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, hr-Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Lyon, Tokyo Philharmonic Choir, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Asko-Schönberg, Oslo Symphoniette and l´Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain as well as by distinguished soloists.. From 2016 on, some new chamber music works were commissioned by Bayerische Rundfunk (Bavarian Radio), the WDR(West German Radio) Cologne, Ensemble Horizonte, a piece for Les percussion de strasbourg commissioned by Culture and Communication Ministry of France, a solo piece for Sumire Yoshihara (Percussion) commissioned by S.Yoshihara, and by Ensemble Musikfabrik for Peter Veale (Oboe). In 2014, her portrait CD “Irisation” was published by the Wergo label and Deutscher Musikrat (German Music Council) as part of the “Edition Zeitgenössische Musik”, a CD collection featuring current contemporary music created in Germany. Her works are published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni in Milan.
